In one semester my son went from a kindergarten reader to a second grade reader!
"Our lives have changed immensely since our 10yr old son started Reading Boot Camp with Jill at Literacy Journeys. My son has severe dyslexia which paralyzed him in the classroom setting. He lost all self-confidence and self-esteem.
I was ecstatic to learn and try this program, which is like having a private tutor but with just a couple more peers in there with you...which makes it great not only because my son FINALLY felt not alone in the world of dyslexia, but because it’s more comfortable to be with other people excited to learn.
Every time he got done with a class he was excited to show me what they did, and when we worked on school work at home I could see him using the tools that Jill taught him in his everyday work. Jill makes the class fun and very engaging!! She has high energy that is focused.
She is really good at being able to identify where and what your child needs to focus on and how to jump that hurdle. After every session, she let us know what they went over and what we could work on for the rest of the week. She gave me pointers on how to help my son with certain brick walls we kept coming to.
It’s one thing to have your parents tell you you’re not alone, but it’s another thing for you to meet other kids who have been down your same struggling road. It is also PRICELESS to have a teacher like Jill who does not make your child feel like they are holding back everyone else or say, “Why does this kid not get it???” Jill gets it; she understands it’s about decoding this "foreign" language that our children are trying so hard to get. In one semester my son went from a kindergarten reader to a second grade reader!
We have had other OG tutors in the past and no one comes close to connecting with my son like Jill has. She understands that each person is an individual, so they all need a little different twist in their learning styles. She is able to pinpoint that out in the group setting and in individual sessions. I am so glad we met Jill and chose to do her program. It has changed all of our lives!"
